  About Wearside Walkies

Sausage Dog PetWearside Walkies was established by me, Sue Bambrough, in the Summer of 2007 with the aim of providing a reliable and caring variety of services for pets and their owners in the Wearside area.

A lifetime dog and small pet owner, I often struggled with my conscience when working full time – not always finding it easy to return home to allow my dog toilet breaks etc.  A dog flap went some way to ease the problem, but I still felt that my dog should be having some exercise and human contact during the working week.  I also struggled to arrange holidays, as I was reluctant to place my rescue dog in kennels, so had to rely on willing relatives if I ever wanted a holiday abroad!

All of my life I have been envious of those working with animals – whilst I had a very successful career working for a global Express Delivery company in London and East Midlands, I always had the idea for Wearside Walkies in the back of my mind. Finally in 2007 I found the courage to give up my career, company car etc., and return to my home town of Sunderland to set up my dream business.  I have not looked back!

Working with animals is a privilege. The job satisfaction I get from building a relationship with the pets in my care – and being able to provide a valuable service to customers is fantastic!

Trusting your pet or pets to a stranger can be a very difficult thing, so I believe recommendation is very important. Wearside Walkies has many repeat customers, including customers who use the 5 days a week 48 weeks of the year.  Some of those customers have provided quotes for my testimonial page - please have a look!  I understand fully that you need to be 100% comfortable before entrusting your pet to anyone in your absence.
